This 3-week summer program offers international higher students an opportunity to develop their creative skills in various studio disciplines while experiencing American culture by living and studying in New York City. Program Overview The Culture, Design, and Fine Arts in New York Summer Program offers international higher students an opportunity to develop their creative skills while experiencing American culture in New York City. Students may segregate between two courses offered in this program and will be awarded 3 undergraduate studio credits upon successful completion of the course. Classes are held Monday-Friday, 9 AM -  4 PM, with a 1-hour unravel for lunch. All instructors are SVA sense and professionals in their respective fields. Space is limited to approximately 20 students per course. Registration is based on a first come, first served basis. The program includes a variety of organized social and cultural activities, such as museum visits, Broadway musicals, movie nights, and walking tours. An exhibition of student work will be held on the last Friday of the program. Students have the option to stay in SVA housing during this program. Program Eligibility The program is unshut to art and diamond students who have completed at least one semester of higher or university. Portfolio submission is not required to attend. Students without an art or diamond preliminaries who are interested in participating should contact [email protected]. Courses are taught in English, and are suitable for students with at least an intermediate level of English proficiency. Students should be at a level that is equivalent to or higher than a minimum score of 65 on the TOEFL iBT, or 183 on the TOEFL CBT, or 6 on the IELTS (or) have graduated from a secondary or higher level school where instruction is given primarily in English (or) be fluent or native English speakers. A TOEFL score is not required for ticket to this program.  Program Dates, Tuition & Housing Fees Dates: July 9-27, 2018 2018 Tuition: $2400 (includes weekend and evening activities' program fees) 2018 Housing: $1650 (optional, shared room accommodation; includes breakfast Monday - Friday) Health Insurance: All students must have their own health insurance. Supplies: Students are responsible for their own supplies. A supply list will be provided prior to the start of the course.UndertowOfferings Courses run Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 4 PM (with a 1-hour unravel for lunch). Studio Arts – Creative Art &DiamondFID-1192, 3 credits This intensive undertow is designed for international students who wish to develop their studio skills while learning new ways of unescapable visual communication. It is comprised of a variety of subject areas, including brainstorming and creative design, icon drawing, and illustration. Projects will be prescribed in each subject zone that will push students to explore the boundaries of their creativity. The undertow will be taught by multiple SVA sense members, each of whom is moreover a fine arts or diamond professional. Animation and Visual Effects Studio Pipeline SMD-1192, 3 credits In this undertow students will examine the production pipelines used by studios in New YorkMunicipalityand then create a project from start to finish. Working as a team, students will write and storyboard a 30-second commercial spot. Production designs will be workshopped and a previsualization will be created. Using premade assets, students will work together to create the 3D resources and animations in Maya, and then move to live-action footage by filming in the municipality and in a untried screen studio. Other production tools will be explored, including motion capture and virtual cameras. Finally, students will composite the work with Nuke software and verisimilitude correct the final piece in a color-grading suite. The undertow includes visits to studios in New YorkMunicipalityto get an insider's squint at the production pipeline in action. Prerequisite: A working knowledge of Maya or Nuke.   Housing Summer Housing Housing is optional with limited availability. The 23rd Street Residence is located proximal to the 209 East 23 Street towers and rooms are serried in an apartment-style setting. There is 24-hour security at the housing towers entrance. People must show a picture ID to enter the building. A program staff member is on undeniability for emergencies throughout the night until matriculation time in the morning. Apartments come with two- to three-bedroom suites, with inside air and heat as well as full kitchen and washroom facilities. Each suite houses between four to six students and offers sweeping, picturesque views of the Chrysler Building, the Empire StateTowersand the East River. All rooms in the New Residence are equipped with wireless internet access. You must provide your own computer. Recreational space and laundry facilities are available. Housing Check-in: Please victorious on Sunday, July 8, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Students who need to victorious older or later must pre-arrange their check-in time by contacting [email protected] Housing students should return to the vault lounge at 4 PM on Sunday for a meeting and neighborhood tour. Meal Plan: A meal plan that covers breakfast Monday-Friday is included in the forfeit of housing. Housing Curfew : Curfew is 12 am (midnight). Exceptions may be made on a specimen by specimen basis. Drug &SwigPolicy: Students cannot slosh or possess illegal drugs or swig at any time. Students cannot have anyone in their room who is found in possession of any drugs or alcohol. Residents or guests who enter the towers or are found in an intoxicated state within the towers may be subject to judicial whoopee and follow-up which may include expulsion from housing.   Activities A range of organized evening and weekend activities are included in the forfeit of tuition. All students in the program are encouraged to participate.  Previous activities include visits to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Broadway musicals, movie nights, exploring The High Line andInsidePark, and much more. Airport Transportation SVA does not offer a pick up service from or to the airports. Students may unify for a car service or use the regulated New YorkMunicipalitymedallion yellow taxicabs. The forfeit is approximately $55 USD from LaGuardia or JFK airports to SVA. LaGuardia and JFK airports are the most user-friendly airports to travel from and to SVA.Squintfor the “Ground Transportation” signs when exiting the airport. Do not winnow offers from anyone in the airport terminal who approaches you. Firmly say “no, thank you” and squint for the taxi line when exiting the terminal without you have retrieved your luggage. Follow the signs for the taxi line. You will see a kiosk with a staff person where other passengers are waiting for a taxi. Orientation Orientation Meeting for all CDFNY Summer Program Students A mandatory orientation will be held at the whence of the program. Event details will be sent to students prior to the start of the program. Student Exhibition A exhibition of student art will be held on the final Friday of the program. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Registered students who have not paid in full must pay the wastefulness (remainder of tuition fee and fee for housing, if desired) in full by June 1. I-20 Issuance & Visa RequirementWontedinternational students are required to obtain an F-1 student visa, or present or transfer a valid I-20 from flipside institution, in order to attend this program. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal from the program surpassing the start of classes. See the International Student Office page for remoter information on the F-1 student visa.Wontedstudents must submit requirements for I-20 issuance to [email protected] by May 15. Instructions will be sent to wonted students via email. Once all requirements have been received and deemed sufficient, the I-20 will be processed (after May 1). The unscientific processing time is up to 3 weeks. Students will not be issued an I-20 until a minimum payment of the $400 tuition petrifaction has been submitted. REQUIREMENTS FOR I-20 ISSUANCE 1. Declaration of Finances (DOF) Form Please list the funds misogynist to you for the elapsing of the program. The minimum value required to be substantiated for the summer 2018 term is $5,000. This form must be signed by the write-in and any sponsor(s). A reprinting should be kept for the visa interview. 2. Verification of Finances (VOF) An official letter or statement from the student’s or sponsor’s wall that substantiatees the funds supposed on the DOF. 3.Reprintingof Passport And a reprinting of the I-20 from the last U.S. institution attended, if applicable. 4. Proof ofHigheror University Enrollment Submit one of the following: reprinting of transcript, current undertow schedule, letter of enrollment, or diploma. 5. Demonstration of English Proficiency Form Students who are fluent or native English speakers, or who have attended a school (secondary or higher) where the primary language of instruction is English, are not required to submit this form and should request a waiver.
