This interdisciplinary program unites the liberal arts with studio practice Honors study is augmented by public and private lectures, museum visits and events in artists' studios and theaters—utilizing the many opportunities that peekaboo art school in NYC has to offer Request information at [email protected] to learn increasingly well-nigh honors classes at SVA. First-time freshmen in Advertising; Animation; Cartooning; Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects; Design; Film; Fine Arts; Illustration; and Photography and Video who seek wonk enrichment and rencontre as an offshoot to their studio study are invited to wield to the SVA Honors Program. Designed to bring talented, intellectually would-be students together to work closely with one flipside and with specially selected studio and liberal arts professors, this small, interdisciplinary program unites the liberal arts (literature, history, philosophy and art history) in order to focus on the historical and thematic connections among them. The Honors Program thereby enhances the dual skills of the visually and academically gifted by integrating wonk courses on the interplay between the liberal and the visual arts. Students uncork their first year with an viewing of modernism and modernity in the four liberal arts courses. This focus grounds students in the known and visible world surpassing the second year's tideway to the historical, originative and intellectual origins of modernity. Honors study is augmented by public and private lectures, museum visits and events at artists' studios and theaters; the third-year art history and science colloquium (the latter offered in conjunction with the American Museum of Natural History) and a spring recess trip upalong in the third year. Completion of the first two years of the program fulfills the majority of humanities and sciences and art history requirements. Applicants interested in the Honors Program should submit the Honors ProgramUsingby February 15, 2019.
